Title: Ho I Wish China Would Be United Sooner!

July 1st, 2022 A Fine Day for Reflection

As I watched the CCTV special program in celebration of Hong Kong’s 5th anniversary of its return to China, I was immersed in thoughts of hope and longing for the day when China is fully united.

Hong Kong and Macao have always been integral parts of China in history. Unfortunately, due to complex political reasons, they were temporarily separated from the motherland. However, with China’s remarkable progress and strength since its opening to the outside world, these divisions are now being erased.

On July 1, 1997, Hong Kong returned to China with much joy and celebration. Similarly, on December 20, 1999, Macao also found itself back in the embrace of its motherland. The changes that have taken place in both Hong Kong and Macao are testament to China’s remarkable development and strength.

As for Taiwan, it stands as a vital part of China that cannot be separated from its rich history and cultural ties. The Chinese people, including a vast majority from Taiwan, eagerly await the day when Taiwan will return to the motherland. This desire is not just a dream but a hope that is firmly rooted in the hearts of every Chinese person.

The future of Taiwan is bright, and with the support and love of the entire nation, there is no doubt that this day will come sooner or later. As China continues to grow and prosper, the day when all parts of the country are united will be a day of celebration for every Chinese person.

Today, as we celebrate Hong Kong’s return anniversary, let us also remember that unity is the essence of our nation’s strength and that every Chinese person desires to see their country whole and united. Ho I wish that day would come soon!
